Specialization areas for engineering programmes must be decided and declared by

the end of the 2nd year of study and approved by the Department Chair or Advisor/

Supervisor.

  • Admission Requirements

    Welcome! Start an exciting career with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Northern Caribbean University!  When you begin your studies with us, you will be accepted into our “Foundation Year” program.

     

    Minimum Programme Entry Requirements:

    • CAPE Math (U1&U2) – Grades 1,2,3

    • CAPE/CSEC English A – Grades 1,2,3

    • Three (3) Extra CAPE/CSEC Subjects (Grades 1,2,3)

     

    **If you have good passes in CXC Math (Grades 1 and 2) you may still apply under the NCU General Studies Programme. However, you will require (at minimum) an additional year to satisfactorily complete the required pre-calculus courses, along with our evaluation of your demonstrated work ethic before acceptance into the “Foundation Year”.

     

    NB: Acceptance into the “Foundation Year” program does not mean matriculation in the BSc. Programme. Matriculation into the BSc. Mathematics program (Years 2-4) requires that ALL Foundation Year math courses be passed with a minimum “B average”.

    AND

    A Minimum Cumulative Foundation Year GPA of 3.0 must be achieved. If you complete your foundation year without meeting these requirements, you MUST do so within one year OR regrettably, you will be withdrawn from our programme.

     

    Internship/Practicum & Service Learning

    You are required to do an internship or practicum for minimum period of (3) months at a business firm or school, working on a mathematics application or program. You will practice service learning as you contribute tangibly to your organizations growth & development through innovation.

  • Admission Requirements

    • CAPE/CSEC English A – Grades 1,2,3

    • Three (3) Extra CAPE/CSEC Subjects (Grades 1,2,3)

     

    * Either CAPE (U1&2) in Electrical & Electronic Technology or Geometric & Mechanical Engineering Drawing (GMED) may be used as a substitute for CAPE Physics (U1 &U2).

     

    **If you have good passes in CXC Math & Physics passes (Grades 1 and 2) you may still apply under the NCU General Studies Programme. However, you will require (at minimum) an additional year to satisfactorily complete the required pre-calculus courses, along with our evaluation of your demonstrated work ethic before acceptance into the “Foundation Year”.

     

    NB: Acceptance into the Foundation Year does not mean acceptance into our BEng Degree Programs. For Matriculation into our BEng programs ALL foundation year courses must be passed AND you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. If you complete your foundation year without meeting these requirements, you must do so within one (1) year.
