Evening Nurse (Contractual)
This position exists in the Department of Health and Wellness which is located on the main campus in Mandeville. The Evening Nurse will report to the Director of Health and Wellness and should be available to work from noon to 8:00 p.m. There may be occasions when the working hours will vary. The incumbent will be expected to deliver nursing care to a population comprising, students, employees and community members. He / she will be expected to conduct patient assessment prior to physician’s evaluation; administer immunizations to students; remove sutures and do wound care; carry out treatments prescribed by the physician and when necessary accompany students who are being transported via the ambulance to the hospital. The incumbent will also be expected to enter student medical reports in a data base. A complete job description will be presented at the interview.
Qualification and Experience
The ideal candidate should possess the BSc in Nursing and hold current license from the Nursing Council of Jamaica and current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least two years’ experience working in a clinical setting. Skills in basic computing will be necessary for this position.
