Gowns
Please pick-up your regalia on the following days and times for August 2010 graduation:
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 - 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 5, 2010 - 2:30 p.m - 4:30 p.m.
Monday, August 9, 2010 - 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
These are to be returned TWO HOURS after your Commencement Service on Sunday, August
15, 2010. Charges begin to accrue August 16, 2010. Also please be reminded that
the Records Office will be closed on Monday, August 16, 2010.
(Please note that these times will be strictly adhered to)
The robe room is located at the Cafeteria basement above the Plant Services Department.
Announcements
- Please be in attendance for the next general meeting which is scheduled for July
19, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. to be held in the main chapel. As part of the meeting agenda
there will be a rehearsal for the Graduation Song, composed by Daniel Husbands.
Your attendance at this meeting is paramount. We will also be discussing final plans
for our class trip to Chukka Caribbean on July 29, 2010.
- Please be reminded that the deadline for the graduation fee ($13,500) which is to
be paid into the regular school account is July 12th. This deadline will not be
extended.
- Class colours should be worn on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14. It is
NOT mandatory for the colours to be worn on Sunday.
- Please note that dates for the activities for Graduation weekend (August 12 – 15th)
- Thursday August 12, 2010 – Rehearsal (4 p.m.) and Cocktail Party (North Campus @
6 p.m.)
- Friday August 13, 2010 – Consecration Service
- Saturday August 14, 2010 – Baccalaureate
- Sunday August 15, 2010 – 1st & 2nd Commencement
- 1st commencement starts @ 8:45 a.m.
- 2nd commencement starts @ 1:45 p.m.

- The dress code for the weekend of activities are as follows
- Thursday – semi-formal (cocktail dress, shirt, dress pants, jeans, heels
- Friday – Church wear (skirt, dress) plus gown
- Saturday – Formal (church wear) plus gown for morning service
- Sunday – Formalplus gown
- Guest speakers in attendance for the weekend are as follows:
- Consecration Speaker (Friday Night) – Dr. Leslie V. McMillan
- 1st Commencement Speaker – Dr. Neville Gallimore
- 2nd Commencement Speaker – Mr. Lars Houmann, President & CEO Florida Hospital.
- Graduation fee ($13,500) offsets the expenses for the weekend: degree paper, degree
case, travelling expenses to get the weekend presenter/speakers to the university,
media coverage, decorations etc. Note: payment deadline is July 12, 2010;
there may be a penalty if this fee payment is tardy.
- Graduating Class Fee ($5,500/$7,000) covers your choice of souvenir plus the class
gift. With BX- Bill Express Payment your names are not available. Please submit your
receipts for verification so that your name can be added to the list. N.B. If your
name is spelt incorrectly please email the correct spelling to
felsamuels@hotmail.com or contact any other member of the Executive Body
or your campus representatives. Money can be transferred from your school
account to the ‘Graduating Class account’ #100 115 4342
- Please note that if you have not paid for a souvenir, you are kindly asked to deposit
your contribution to the class gift into the Graduating Class Account #100 115 4342
so that as a class we can make an appropriate contribution to the university. Some
suggestions for the class gift include:
- Heavy duty printers
- Erecting a monument of the Ten (10) Commandments
- Please feel free to make any other suggestions at our next general meeting.
- REGALIA: The rental of gowns - $2,000 and these will be issued the week leading
up to graduation. Records Office will notify you of the respective times and dates.
Gown purchase -$4,350 and these can be purchased from the Tai Centre.
- INVITATIONS, four (4) per graduate will be issued through your respective departments/colleges
during the 2nd week of July. The words (music) of the song are
here.
- The President’s Reception and Class Cocktail Party is scheduled for the evening
of July 12, 6:00 p.m. Items include songs (including instrumental), drama presentations,
poetry (dub), a motivational speech, sharing the NCU experience, the honouring of
a lecturer, friend, spouse….
- The Class trip or Excursion is set tentatively for July 29 and will be an excursion
with Chukka Adventure Tours in Ohio Rios. The cost for transportation is a mere
$1,000 and the class will be sponsoring a free ride for all in attendance. Please
inform your colleagues and pass the word along. The money for transportation will
be collected at our next general meeting on July 19.
